Antidotes

I am so excited to have my own domain name! theantidotes.net is finally up!
I recently started this blog (three days ago to be exact) to have a place where I could document the happenings in my life and I really wanted to buy my own domain name because it makes it all more serious. And since I used my own money to pay for it, I’m sure it’s gonna make me want to maximize its features more.
This domain name came with a free e-mail address and I figured: why not? mail@theantidotes.net Just throwing it out there in case someone wants to reach me through e-mail (which I highly doubt; I think the only person interested in sending me an e-mail would be my mum lol - hi, mum!).
Everything happened so fast! At first I thought I would give myself more time to think about this blog’s details, but once I get excited about something I end up wanting to handle all aspects as soon as I can. I dedicated a lot of my free time these past few days to this website - from the minimalist layout to the final domain name - and I’m happy with what I’ve done so far. Before I explain the meaning behind my domain/blog name, I would like to thank two persons in particular for helping me. I e-mailed Kisty last week to ask her about domain names and how to register for one. I’m a complete noob when it comes to that and she has been extremely helpful. I didn’t want to just Google; I wanted the perspective of a first-hand user and she didn’t disappoint. She gave me all the details I needed and I just managed from there. Leica is one of my closest college friends (naks!) and has adopted me into her home last weekend, so we had a lot of time to talk about my plans for this blog. I constantly asked for her opinion regarding my chosen domain names. I didn’t find it easy to finalize my domain name and Leica was so patient telling me her thoughts. Haha.  I really needed someone to go through the process with me because, after all, I’m gonna be stuck with this domain name for at least a year. So a big thank you to these two lovely ladies!
So now, why theantidotes? As much as I would have wanted the domain name antidotes.com or antidotes.net, they are premium ones, meaning they cost a buttload of money. Another one of my choices was antidotesforthesoul.com, but I just find it too long (although if you type antidotesforthesoul.tumblr.com you will be redirected to this blog). theantidotes.com is already taken, so the next best thing? Yes, theantidotes.net, which I really like.
But really, WHY antidotes? “Antidotes” is one of the albums of my favorite indie rock band, Foals. When I made a new Instagram account, I found out that the username antidotes wasn’t taken yet so I grabbed the opportunity. From then on, the name stuck to the point that some of my closest friends just call me antidotes, which I don’t mind at all because it has come to mean a lot to me.
Needless to say, one of my ultimate dreams is to watch Foals live and hear them sing “Spanish Sahara”, which is my favorite song of all time!
So, that’s it. That’s the story behind my blog/domain name. Can’t wait to fill this space with lots of amazing memories!
