This is not a book review

This is a (partial) list of books I’ve read and liked through the years. I won’t bother writing each book’s plot because Google is there for a reason. I shall update this as often as I can because I’m sure I’ve forgotten a lot. I’m gonna include books I haven’t read in years too, solely relying on my memory and my old taste. If I happen to read some of these books again and not like them anymore, then I shall remove the titles from this list. :) To make everything simpler I decided to divide this list into young adult novels and adult novels. Young adult novels (in no particular order)
  • Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling - It saddens whenever I meet someone who’s not into Harry Potter.
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green - this is the only book I like written by John Green. I know a lot of people love The Fault in Our Stars… Well, not I. If you like TFIOS, I’m not sorry. This is my personal opinion, so I hope you respect it as much as I respect yours. And yes, I’ve read all of his novels.
  • Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell - Unlike other readers, I do love unhappy endings because real life is full of those.
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - I found some Simon Snow parts slightly boring, but I enjoyed the book nonetheless.
  • Tessa in Love by Kate le Vann - I have this book in Italian, but I’m looking for a copy in English. This book is so underrated, but it’s AMAZING and heartbreaking. *ok, brb looking for the e-book*
  • Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli - I haven’t read this in years, but I remember liking it a lot. And yes, just another unhappy ending.
  • The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins - I just read this trilogy once and I wanna read it again.
  • Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth - I’m almost done with the last one, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. Waiting for the first movie in March!
  • Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen - this book is so cute! As cute as the movie!
  • The Solitude of Prime Numbers by Paolo Giordano - this is such a lovely and touching book.
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - Oh Charlie, I wish you were my friend!
  • The Host by Stephenie Meyer - I read this years ago, but I remember finding it interesting. But I definitely liked this more than the Twilight Saga. I guess I’ll just have to read it again.
Adult novels (in no particular order)
  • The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera - one of my favorite novels. Didn’t know I could like a philosophical fiction this much.
  • Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom - stupendous and such an inspiring novel.
  • The Lover’s Dictionary by David Levithan - I’m pretty sure this one will forever be one of my favorites. THE FEELS when I was reading this one. Beautifully written! When I was still in college, a group of friends and I shot a short film of this for one of our majors. Perhaps I’ll upload it on Youtube. :)
  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - read this a few times before, but it became one of my favorites just recently.
  • The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger - I know this is quite popular among teenagers, but I still wanna include this here instead. It’s quite an interesting novel which I wouldn’t mind reading over and over again.
  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon - Just another book which I wouldn’t mind reading over and over again.
  • Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami - I also watched the movie and I wish it could have given justice to the beauty of the book. This was the first Murakami book I read. Murakami, sir, you are a genius! He is now my favorite author and it is, of course, my goal to read all his works.
  • 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami - Truly love the way Murakami writes. He is able to merge two worlds so wonderfully!
  • The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami - Murakami, seriously, how do you do it?
  • Dance Dance Dance by Haruki Murakami - other people might not appreciate the way he writes and ends his novels, but I do. I really do.
  • After Dark by Haruki Murakami - Can someone buy me all his books? Please and thanks! Haha!
  • Millenium Series by Stieg Larsson - great books! I really am into crime/mystery novels. Another set of books I have to find the time to read again!
  • Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - I remember reading this for the first time when I was much younger and then watching the film and then re-reading the books several times through the years. It will always remind me of my teenage years.
  • Room by Emma Donoghue - this is such a touching book! Beautiful concept!
  • Attachments by Rainbow Rowell - I found the pace too slow at first, but I ended up liking it. I think this would make a cute short film.
  • Angels and Demons by Dan Brown - I remember liking this a lot. More than The Da Vinci Code. Have to read this again soon!
  • The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown - Quite interesting plot! I guess I have to read the other two books.
  • Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding - such a fun read! I have to admit I watched the films first.
Recommended authors
  • Agatha Christie
  • Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I’ve read too many of their works that I can’t possibly enumerate all right now. Before Haruki Murakami, Agatha Christie was my favorite author. The majority of my teenage years was spent reading and re-reading her crime fiction novels. Hercules Poirot will always be my favorite detective and Sherlock Holmes is a close second. Both of these authors had brilliant minds! I also enjoy watching anything Poirot- and Sherlock-related like the British television dramas Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Sherlock.

I hope you enjoyed reading this list! I’m sure you’re familiar with some, if not a lot, of the titles already. I’ve still got a lot to add to this list and I will. Slowly, but surely!
